Checklist of the birds of Bribie Island

See below a checklist of the birds of Bribie Island. This checklist follows the taxonomy and sequence outlined in the Christidis and Boles (2008) checklist of Australian birds.

This list is the first attempt to produce a definitive list of the birds of Bribie Island, required for the forthcoming book "Birds of Bribie", and is the result of considerable investigation and deliberation. Following the checklist are details of historical records that have not been admitted to the checklist due to insufficient supporting evidence.

Please take this opportunity to look through the list in case you may have seen a bird species on Bribie Island that has not been included. Note that the list covers species recorded on Bribie Island itself, species recorded at sea and identifiable from Bribie Island, and species recorded in the Pumicestone Passage up to the high water mark on the mainland side.

If you wish to report a "new" species, please contact me, Trevor Ford, and I will send you a Rarities Submission form. Incidentally, I would be really interested to hear of any records of Indian Peafowl on the island.
